Frequently asked questions

Passeport Féminin · Laurentides edition

About this space

What is this Passeport Féminin space?

Passeport Féminin brings together digital health resources for women: fact sheets, websites, videos, podcasts and apps. They are organized to help you quickly find what concerns you.

The Laurentides edition is offered by Santé Québec Laurentides, together with the region’s family medicine groups (GMFs). It highlights the tools selected for local women.

Who chooses the tools?

AppGuide, a Quebec company specializing in digital health, reviews each tool independently. The Laurentides GMFs then select those that best meet their patients’ needs.

To learn more, see How AppGuide selects your tools.

Is any content sponsored?

No. No tool is featured because a company paid for it, and there is no advertising. Tool authors take no part in the selection or in writing the tool pages.

Why are some well-known tools not listed?

To make your choice easier, the selection is deliberately short. A tool may be missing because it did not meet our criteria, because another tool met them better, or simply because it has not been reviewed yet.

Using the tools

How do I find what suits me?

From the home page, you can explore in two ways:

  • By collection: contraception, postpartum, breastfeeding, fertility, and more. Each collection organizes its tools by need: learning, getting support along the way, or finding help.

  • By topic: pelvic health, physical activity, nutrition, mental health or sexuality. Tools are organized by stage of life.

Do I need a diagnosis or an appointment to use these tools?

No. These tools are for all women, with or without an appointment or a diagnosis. You can use them to learn, to prevent, or alongside your care.

I have a GMF appointment soon. How can I prepare?

Several collections have a “Prepare for my appointment” page. It offers tools in 3 steps to help you take stock of your situation and understand what you are experiencing.

Write down your questions and symptoms before the appointment: you will make better use of your time with your health professional.

Are the tools free?

Most of them, yes. When a tool has paid options, this is noted on its page.

Are the tools available in French?

Yes. All selected tools are available in French. Some also exist in English: check the tool page or the author’s website.

Is my personal information protected?

You do not need to create an account to browse this space. When a tool takes you to an external website or app, its own privacy policy applies: take the time to read it before signing up.

I have a technical issue with a tool. Who should I contact?

This space does not provide technical support for external tools. Contact the tool’s author directly; their name appears on the tool page.

Health and safety

Do these tools replace my doctor or care team?

No. They help you better understand your health and prepare your discussions, but they do not replace professional advice.

If your symptoms persist, get worse or worry you, contact your GMF or a health professional.

What should I do if I need help quickly?

Services are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week:

  • Info-Santé: dial 811, option 1, to speak with a nurse.

  • Info-Social: dial 811, option 2, for psychosocial support.

  • Suicide prevention: call 1 866 APPELLE (1 866 277-3553) or text 535353.

  • Emergency: dial 911 if there is immediate danger.

For health professionals

How can this space support my practice?

It gives you access to a selection of reliable, pre-reviewed tools you can recommend with confidence. Each tool page shows the tool’s purpose, author, format and cost.

This space supports your clinical judgment without replacing it: you remain free to choose the tool and the follow-up that suit each patient.

Where do the tools come from?

Many tools come from public agencies, professional societies or university hospital centres. Others are selected because they are validated by health professionals or supported by research. The criteria are detailed in How AppGuide selects your tools.

How do I recommend a tool to a patient?
  • Share the link to the tool page, or to the relevant collection.

  • Before a visit, direct her to the “Prepare for my appointment” page of the appropriate collection.

  • After a visit, the collection lets her continue at her own pace, with tools to learn, get support along the way or find help.

Can I suggest a tool or report information that needs correcting?

Yes. Share your suggestion with your GMF coordination team, who will pass it on to the project team. Every suggestion is reviewed against the same criteria as the tools already listed.

Updates

How is the selection updated?

The selection is reviewed regularly. A tool that is no longer reliable or available is removed, and tool pages are updated when something important changes, such as a new price or version. New tools are added as needs are identified by the region’s GMFs.
